Project Overview

The Maji Ndogo Water Access Analysis project focused on uncovering critical challenges affecting water accessibility across multiple regions. Using SQL-based data analysis techniques, the project examined infrastructure reliability, queue times, water source conditions, and regional disparities to identify communities facing severe service limitations. The analysis provided actionable insights that could support infrastructure prioritization, operational improvements, and equitable resource distribution.

The Challenge

Many communities within Maji Ndogo faced inconsistent access to clean and reliable water sources. Long queue times, broken household taps, unsafe river dependence, and uneven infrastructure distribution created major accessibility concerns. The challenge was to analyze large datasets across multiple regions and identify the areas most affected by poor water service conditions.

Our Approach

The project combined data from multiple relational tables and external datasets using advanced SQL joins and analytical queries to build a comprehensive view of water accessibility across Maji Ndogo. Infrastructure records, water quality information, queue time statistics, employee assignments, and external cost tables were integrated to support deeper operational analysis. Separate dashboards and reports were developed for each of the five provinces, alongside a national-level report that summarized key trends, infrastructure priorities, and regional disparities. Additional recommendation queries were created to guide engineering teams on repair prioritization and resource allocation, while citizen-focused transparency reports were designed to communicate service conditions and improvement efforts clearly to the public.

Impact & Results

The analysis revealed critical infrastructure and accessibility gaps across several regions, helping identify provinces with high concentrations of broken taps, unsafe water dependence, and excessive queue times. Through dashboard-driven reporting and SQL-based insights, the project enabled clearer prioritization of repairs, better visibility into regional disparities, and more transparent communication of water service conditions to both engineers and citizens.
